Casa do Pacio

A HOUSE IN THE HEART OF TERRA CHA

Casa do Pacio is a rural dwelling built in the XIX century, following the local tradition, very near Cospeito Lake in the singular Galician region called Terra Cha ("Flat Land").

The complex is made up of two buildings:

• THE BIG HOUSE

• THE CARETAKER'S HOUSE

Surrounded by a wall, the house holds two courtyards. In the front one you'll find the well and the horreo (typical Galician construction for storing corn). In the rear one -from which you can enter a grove of chestnut trees- you'll find the barn and the forge.

Te restoration of the House was meant to create a warm and friendly place for the visitor, keeping not only the original structure and construction, but also some of the most characteristic elements of the area such as the lareira (a traditional chimney families used to sit around in the evenings) and the wood-fired bread oven.
